SHAKA'S ROCK BEACH

Shaka's Rock is one of Ballito's most iconic landmarks, named after the legendary Zulu King, Shaka kaSenzangakhona. According to local tradition, King Shaka is believed to have stood on this rock in the early 1800s to survey the coastline and watch the Indian Ocean, although this has never been historically confirmed.

Today, the landmark is renowned for its spectacular natural rock arch, known as the Hole in the Wall, which was carved by centuries of wave erosion. 

Together with its crystal-clear tidal pool, stunning sunrises, and frequent dolphin and seasonal whale sightings, Shaka's Rock remains one of the most photographed and cherished attractions along South Africa's Dolphin Coast.

SALMON BAY

Salmon Bay is a hidden gem on Ballito's Dolphin Coast, renowned for its golden beaches, excellent surf, and peaceful atmosphere. 


Popular for its ski boat, jet ski and paddle ski launch site, Salmon Bay is home to the Ballito Ski Boat Club, which hosts its annual fishing competition attracting competitors from all over the country.   

Visitors can enjoy scenic sunrise walks, frequent dolphin sightings, and seasonal whale watching along this beautiful stretch of coastline.

CLARKE BAY

Located in the heart of Ballito, Clarke Bay is a popular Blue Flag beach known for its safe swimming, lifeguards, and relaxed coastal atmosphere. 

Connected to the scenic Ballito Promenade, it is the perfect spot for beach walks, family outings, dolphin watching, and enjoying the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

A much-loved bathing beach in Ballito that is also a popular dolphin viewing spot.  If it's nightlife you're after, don't miss Clarke Bay.  The famous Ballito New Year's Eve Street Party happens in the vicinity of Clarke Bay.  

Ballito's main tidal pool situated between Clarke and Salmon Bays is a vibrant and family-friendly pool.  A walkway down to the tidal pool makes it easily accessible, and the shallow waters allow kids to play and snorkel freely while the adults watch from nearby.

WILLARD BEACH

Willard Beach is Ballito's premier Blue Flag beach, renowned for its golden sands, warm Indian Ocean waters, and excellent swimming conditions.  Besides being a stunning stretch of beach and sheltered coves, Willard Beach is also protected by shark nets and lifeguards.  With direct access to the Ballito Promenade, it's the perfect destination for families, beach lovers, dolphin watching, and unforgettable sunrises on the Dolphin Coast.


The annual Ballito Pro Surfing event takes place during South Africa's winter holidays on this beach when surfers from around the world flock to ride the waves.

Hidden somewhere north of Willard Beach and south of Thompson's Bay lies the so-called "secret" tidal pool.  Small but lovely and more like an ocean water tub, this tidal pool is perfect for wallowing in.  Tucked into the side of a rock bank, this tiny pool can comfortably accommodate two or three.  Next time you're in the mood for a beach walk, challenge yourself to find it.

THOMPSON'S BAY

Thompson's Bay is one of Ballito's most picturesque beaches and a must for every holidaymaker, famous for its iconic Hole in the Wall rock formation, crystal-clear tidal pool, and pristine golden sands. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, exploring rock pools, and dolphin watching, this Blue Flag beach offers breathtaking coastal scenery and unforgettable sunrises along South Africa's beautiful Dolphin Coast.


The bustling Thompson's Bay Rock Pool popularly known as Charlie's Pool is a haven for swimmers and snorkelers to discover fascinating sea life.

The unique "Hole in the Wall" creates a beautiful photographic opportunity amongst the many rock formations.

TINLEY MANOR BEACH


Just a short drive north of Ballito, Tinley Manor Beach is a peaceful coastal escape renowned for its unspoilt shoreline, natural tidal pool, and relaxed atmosphere. 

A beautiful spot for fishermen and ideal for frolicking in the waves.  Hidden below a large hill lies a very popular tidal pool that makes this beach idyllic for families.  

This hidden gem offers breathtaking ocean views and a tranquil retreat on KwaZulu-Natal's beautiful Dolphin Coast.

SALT ROCK BEACH

Just north of Ballito, Salt Rock Beach is a beautiful Blue Flag beach celebrated for its golden sands, clear waters, and excellent swimming conditions.  Located just below Siggi's, the Granny's Pool is a shallow and calm, perfect for the little ones to swim around and explore some of the sea creatures.  


The serene and tranquil shores makes this the perfect beach for immersing yourself in a book.  The beach hosts a massive crowd during the free music concerts of the Ballito Pro Surfing event.

With a natural tidal pool, lifeguards, and easy access to the scenic coastal promenade, it's a favourite destination for families, surfers, dolphin watching, and relaxing days by the sea on KwaZulu-Natal's Dolphin Coast.

BLYTHEDALE BEACH

Boasting a coastline that is pristine and ideal for whale and dolphin spotting.  Just north of Ballito, Blythedale Beach is a tranquil coastal retreat renowned for its long stretches of unspoilt golden sand, warm Indian Ocean waters, and peaceful natural surroundings.


Bordering the Umvoti River mouth, it is a favourite destination for beach walks, fishing, birdwatching, dolphin spotting, and relaxing in one of the Dolphin Coast's most scenic settings.

Blythedale also has a lovely braai area and a children's play area.

The KwaDukuza New Year's Eve festival is held here.

ZINKWAZI BEACH


Located on KwaZulu-Natal's scenic Dolphin Coast, Zinkwazi Beach is renowned for its unspoilt shoreline, tranquil lagoon, and abundant natural beauty.

TUGELA BEACH

Fish and shark species make for exciting catches, and if you are lucky, turtles and whales can often be spotted during October and November.
